Moving from Relief to Development

You are invited to join pastors and mission leaders on:

Date: Thursday, Apr. 28, 2011, 11:30 - 1:30pm.

Subject: Moving from Relief to Development

It's not too hard to motivate giving and going right after a disaster, but how do we move from short-term Band-Aids to long term, sustainable development? How can we change our relationships from provider to partner as the local church builds its own capacity to lead?

Our panelists represent three "hot spots" where our roles would now be to assist the local church in its ongoing efforts to rebuild:

Dr. Dieumeme Noelliste, a Haitian professor at Denver Seminary, is deeply involved in helping the churches of Haiti develop leadership potential and have effective influence in the public sphere 1 year after the earthquake.

Rev. Scott Lundeen, currently with Mile High Ministries, arrived in New Orleans as a church planter a month before Hurricane Katrina and will speak to the benefits and problems over 5 years of receiving short-term teams, re-building local churches, and moving communities toward redevelopment.

Rev. Thomas Sundima Simbo, who served as vice-president of evangelism and church planting for the Evangelical Fellowship of Sierra Leone throughout their civil war (1991-2001) will speak of how relief efforts can cause good OR harm, and discuss how the church is recovering 10 years on from the end of the war.

WorldVenture will also provide an update on the Japan crisis.

A Few Good Men

Thursday, March 24, 2011, 11:30 - 1:30pm.

We all know that the Marines are looking for a few good men. Well, the Lord of the Harvest is looking for a few good people for a much more important task. Join us at the next MP3 meeting to explore how the church can best prepare those that are called to be well prepared for the task. We'll discuss a few case studies around the lunch tables and then interact with a panel of people wrestling with the issue of mission candidate preparation at the local church level.

Pastor Roger Gerard – Faith Bible Chapel of Arvada, a major mission sending church for several decades. Pastor Terry Jarvis - Mission Hills Church of Littleton, which has recently adopted a new mentor program for candidates. Dr. Doug Feil - Director of Southwest Counseling/Missionary Care Services, with many years of assessing candidates.

Host: Mission Hills Church, 620 South Park Drive, Littleton CO 80120 www.missionhills.org

Churches Connecting in International Partnerships

Date: Thursday, Feb 24, 2011, 11:30 - 1:30pm.

How does our church get involved in international partnerships, indigenous ministries, working with nationals and national churches? What about accountability of the nationals, appropriate training, and our role? Join Dr. Gregory Fritz, Partners International, Dr. Jeffery Denlinger, WorldVenture, and Pastor Dave Kadlec, Church on the Rock to participate in this healthy discussion.

Host: Bethany Evangelical Free Church, 6240 S. Broadway, Centennial CO 80121. www.bethanyefree.org Please bring your own bag lunch. Drinks and dessert will be provided. We begin with a time of fellowship and opportunity to network, then we'll have our discussion.

Denver Area MP3 Missions Mapping Data Project – 2011

PURPOSE
One of the primary purposes of the MP3 Group is networking between mission leaders in our area. We believe that we can accomplish more together than we can separately, so we want to facilitate these connections. This MP3 Missions Mapping Project is intended to be a tool to help church leaders identify others who are involved in similar parts of the world and to investigate how they might consider working together to accomplish Kingdom Advancement.

INSTRUCTIONS
Please list below each country your organization is involved with outside the USA. At this point we are not collecting details as to type of ministry or even area of the country. The purpose of this project is to generate dialogue between mission leaders who have interests in the same general areas around the world.

Note Regarding Creative Access Countries: We understand the sensitivity of published data tying your church or organization to a specific country. We would still like to collect this data and have it as unpublished reference data to use in helping to connect people of similar interests. What we intend to share publicly with MP3 members will be on a regional basis: Central Asia, South Asia, East Asia, Southeast Asia, Middle East.

Note Regarding U.S. Ministries Outside Colorado: We would like to capture these ministry connections if possible. The most useful data will probably be State, City, or Region, the name of the ministry, and a few words identifying the type of ministry.

Note Regarding Ministries Within Colorado: We would like to capture these ministry connections as well. Ministry name, location, and brief description would be most useful.
